Meet Boogie, Our Truffle Dog
from rescue pup to skilled truffle hunter
Every great Scotch Hill truffle hunt begins with Boogie. Once a rescue pup, our much-loved truffle dog now leads guests beneath the oaks in search of prized Australian black truffles.
Watching Boogie work is one of the highlights of the hunt. Nose to the ground and completely in his element, he has become part of the character of Scotch Hill — and a favourite with guests long before the first truffle is unearthed.
The Scotch Hill Shed
The character-filled heart of Truffle & Flames.
Step inside an authentic farm shed where hay bales, fairy lights, an old farm truck and a crackling fire set the scene. It’s here that guests gather after the hunt to prepare, taste and share truffle — and soak up the warm, relaxed atmosphere that has become such a memorable part of the Scotch Hill experience.
“Where the hunt gives way to fire, food and conversation.”

Before You Visit
everything you need to know before your truffle hunt
How long does a Scotch Hill truffle hunt take?
Our Truffle & Flames experience normally runs for around 1.5–2 hours. Guests are welcome to linger afterwards, browse the Farm Gate and enjoy a little more time at Scotch Hill.
What should I wear to a truffle hunt?
Dress warmly for a West Gippsland winter and bring a waterproof jacket. Closed-toe waterproof footwear is essential; hiking boots or gumboots are ideal as the paddocks can be wet and muddy.
Can children join the truffle hunt?
Yes. Children are welcome when accompanied and actively supervised by an adult. Scotch Hill is a working farm with uneven ground and open dams.
What happens if it rains?
Truffle hunts go ahead in normal winter weather — it’s all part of the experience. Bring warm, waterproof clothing and suitable footwear. If extreme weather affects your session, we’ll contact you.
Is the truffle hunt suitable for people with limited mobility?
The hunt takes place on working farmland with grassy, uneven and sloping ground. If you have mobility concerns, please contact us before booking so we can help you decide whether the experience is suitable.
Can I bring my dog?
No. For biosecurity and the safety of our truffle dog, pets cannot attend our truffle hunts.
Can I buy fresh black truffles at Scotch Hill?
Yes, during the Australian black truffle season, fresh truffles are available from our Farm Gate, subject to seasonal availability. You can also discover Scotch Hill truffle products and truffle trees to take home.
Where is Scotch Hill Truffle Farm?
Scotch Hill Truffle Farm is in Neerim South, West Gippsland, approximately one hour from Melbourne, with sweeping views towards Mount Baw Baw.
Do I need to do anything for farm biosecurity?
Yes. As a working truffle farm, we take biosecurity seriously. Guests may be asked to use our footwear wash before entering the truffière to help protect our trees and soil.
What if I need to change or cancel my booking?
Tickets are transferable. Full refunds and rescheduling are available up to 14 days before your experience, subject to availability. Within 14 days, tickets are non-refundable.
